High Country Mahjong (HC Mahj) is home base for our mahjong community here tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Appalachian High Country. From Beech Mountain, Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Jefferson to Valle Crucis, and all the small mountain towns in between, our members gather for good company, friendly competition, and some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere in the country. Whether you have been playing for decades or just want to learn your first Charleston, there is always a seat waiting for you at the table.
This app makes game day easy: see what is coming up, let the group know you're in, host a game of your own, chat with other members, and even find a new or gently-used mahjong set or special treasure in our community Marketplace. No more messy group texts or guessing who is coming. Everything you need lives right here in one place.
What You Can Do Here
- See upcoming games at a glance on the Home screen and the Calendar.
- RSVP with one tap and bring a guest along if you'd like.
- Schedule your own game and invite exactly who you want.
- Get turn-by-turn directions straight to the game.
- Message fellow members to coordinate or just say hello.
- Buy, sell, or give away mahjong items and personal items in the Marketplace.
How to Use HC Mahj: Step by Step
Made simple for every player, no matter how comfortable you are with phones or computers. Take it one step at a time. You've got this!
Open the app and type in your email and password. First time here? Tap "Forgot password?" and enter your email. A Super Admin will have given you a short code. Enter that code and pick a new password to get started.
The Home screen shows your next game right at the top, with the date, time, and address. Scroll down to see everything else on the schedule.
Tap the green "I'm Playing" button on a game to join it. If your plans change, just tap it again to let the group know you cannot make it.
Open a game's details and use the plus (+) button to add how many guests you are bringing along.
Tap "Schedule Game" in the menu. Choose a date, time, and place, pick who you would like to invite, then tap the button to send it out.
On any game, tap "Get Directions" and your phone's map app will show you exactly how to get there.
Tap "Messages" in the menu, choose a member's name from the list, type your message, and send it, just like a text message.
Tap "Marketplace" to see mahjong sets, tables, and other items members are selling or giving away, or post your own.
Tap the gear icon (β) near the top of the screen to update your password or account information. And if you are ever stuck or unsure, just reach out to a Super Admin. Helping you get comfortable is exactly what we are here for.
A full backup (all club data + marketplace photos) is generated automatically every day at 12:30pm ET and kept for 30 days. Download one to your computer any time.
